Death Toll Rises to Three in Meridian Fire

This horrible situation that started in Meridian last night involving a shooter and a house fire has resulted in the death of three people.

I don't know what is behind this whole situation. I don't know the connection, if any, between the homeowner and the intruder, but what happened last night in Meridian is a nightmare.

It started with an elderly woman calling 911 saying that someone was banging on her door trying to get in.

By the time cops arrived the man was inside and he approached them carrying a rifle. Next thing they knew the house was fully engulfed in flames near the intersection of Linder and Amity.

The fire has taken the lives of the elderly woman, the gunman, and one other person who was inside the home at the time of the fire.

According to KTVB the names of the victims have not been released.

Authorities also say they do not believe there is a connection between the suspect and the homeowner.

A significant amount of gasoline has been found at the scene but what ignited the fire has yet to be determined.

Residents say the suspect may have been prowling the area at least the day before the fire.
