A new bill would charge heroin dealers with second degree murder in Idaho!

The bill states that anyone who deals heroin to a user that then dies as a result of the drug use would be charged with second degree murder! The punishment means the dealer would spend a minimum of 10 years in jail.

As the law currently stands, dealing heroin or other drugs means a minimum of 3 years behind bars.

Of course the bill is designed to keep heroin out of the state.

Those who oppose the bill point out that it will cost more to prosecute a murder charge, plus they don't like that the bill targets drug dealers, but not users.

According to KTVB, the bill has passed the House Judiciary and the Rules and Administration Committee. It will now make its way to the full Idaho House.
