Police in Nampa are using a new app to help alert residents to danger and emergency situations in the area.

The app is called AlertSense and right now the police department is just testing it out internally, but they would like to have it available to the public within the next couple months!

With AlertSense you will be notified by, text, e-mail, or voice mail. The messages will let you know about serious situations going on in Nampa, such as the abduction of a child, or an area you need to stay away from because of a dangerous situation.

According to KTVB, the app is designed to keep the public safer and more aware. They say so far an official launch date has not been set.
