A very scary situation in Meridian this morning as a car burst into flames at a gas station.

It happened at the gas station I frequent most often. The gas pumps at Fred Meyer off of Fairview and Locust Grove in Meridian.

The woman involved pulled up to the pumps to get gas when all of a sudden she noticed smoke and fire coming out of the engine area.

According to KTVB, the woman did the right thing and turned off the emergency shut off switch on the gas pumps which prevented an explosion.

Luckily, the woman is o.k., although her car is a total loss.

The Meridian Fire Department responded quickly and they were able to put out the flames. So far no word on what may have started the fire.
