Caldwell Teacher Sentenced For Slapping Autistic Child

A speech therapist at a Caldwell Elementary School pleaded guilty and was sentenced yesterday for slapping a 6 year old autistic student.

Lisa Carriere is admitting her wrong doing but says she was afraid for her safety.  The 6 year old boy was very tired during her lesson and at one point lifted his hand towards her.  Judge Thomas Sullivan sentenced her to 180 days in jail with 175 days suspended.  Carriere must also serve 50 hours of community service and pay $500 in fines and court costs.
