The flu is killing more people right here in Boise than it has in years.

Typically the flu kills about 23 people per season here in Idaho. The flu season runs from October to May and already we've seen 25 flu related deaths here in the state!

7 people died from the flu in Idaho just during the past week!

According to KTVB, the flu season hasn't even peaked yet which is definitely concerning. They also say that most people are suffering from Influenza A, but the flu can present itself in many different strands.

Symptoms of the flu include...

  • Coughing
  • Body aches
  • Fever
  • Headaches

Doctors say it is not too late to get the flu shot which protects you from a couple different strands of Influenza A and Influenza B or it can at least help lessen your symptoms.

One things to keep in mind is that 24 out of the 25 deaths so far this year were people aged 50 or older, so remember the elderly population, children, and those with weakened immune systems are at greatest risk.

Other good reminders to prevent the flu are common sense measures like covering your mouth when you cough or sneeze and washing your hands frequently.
