The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning in effect beginning at 12:58 am MDT Friday, March 17th. The Flood Warning continues for the Boise river at Glenwood bridge until further notice...or until the warning is cancelled.

At 11:45 PM Thursday the flow for the Boise River at Glenwood bridge was 7536 cfs. The Boise river is considered to be at flood stage when the river reaches 7000 cfs

Minor flooding is already occurring and more flooding is forecast, with more greenbelt areas being closed until the flood danger is over.

The forecast is for the river to remain near a stage of 7500 cfs.  At 7000cfs...or 10.3 feet, large sections of the Greenbelt path adjacent to the river will be submerged. Erosion of river banks will also become a significant problem.

Debris in the river including small trees and logs may begin piling up at bridge crossings. Minor flooding will be observed on sections of Eagle Island and in other low spots near the river. Minor flooding will spread downstream to low areas near the river in Star and Caldwell as well.

Flooding is also being reported as far away as Payette and Weiser in the western Treasure Valley.
