For years people have been asking how Hong Kong Spa on the corner of Emerald and Broadway remains in business.  It has been widely known as THE place to go to if you're looking for a sleazy rub down with all the extra benefits.  The run down exterior with windows barred up and back entrance only, in no way hid the fact that illegal activity thrived in this establishment.

Hong Kong Spa has been one of those places people snicker and giggle about for a long time but the reality of it wasn't funny at all.  Women of all ages have been subjected to abuse and pressure and a way of life difficult to escape. Undercover officers have arrested women working at these parlors in 2012 and 2016 after community complaints were reported. The undercover officers found they were being offered more than just a massage and temporarily removed their business license for 60 days.

Today I drove by seeing the Burger King there but whoah, wait, what is this?  No warning, no signs, no nothing... just a demolished building on that corner lot where Hong Kong Spa used to reside.  The eye sore is gone.  I don't know what the future plans are for this spot or who or how the decision finally came down to blow this place up but I'm happy it's gone.  The drive past BSU down Broadway just got a whole lot nicer.  :)
