Esther Simplot, Ann Morrison, Julia Davis. Those are just some of the prominent Treasure Valley women who's names were given to the beautiful parks along the Boise River known as the 'Ribbon of Jewels'. Now an additional park will be added to the list bearing, yes, another prominent woman's name.

According to the Idaho Statesman, Sue Howell Park will be created on the eastern part of the city near highway 21 on Warm Springs Rd. Sue Howell is the wife of businessman and president of Meridian's Northwest Lineman College, Aaron Howell.

The park which will sit on a 16-acre parcel purchased by the Howell's (with the intent to donate to the city) and will include features that are nods to Sue Howell's interest, fitness and learning.

There will be a fitness court, a pond, and angler's access will be preserved too! The proposed design by Stack Rock Group will be open for public comment after the new year. There's no word, however, on a projected opening date for the park.
