Boise Man Pleads Guilty to Murder

A 26 year old Boise man has plead guilty to killing his best friend.

Michael Ryan Downs has admitted to killing the man who was once his best friend.

He says it was because of his drug induced state that he committed murder by stabbing his friend in the stomach with a kitchen knife.

According to KTVB, the murder happened back on January 5, 2016 at Michael Downs parents home where both men were living at the time.

Downs has agreed to a plea deal that reduces a First Degree Murder charge to Second Degree Murder.

Prosecutors have asked the judge to hand down a 40 year sentence with Downs not being eligible for parole until 20 years. The judge does not have to take that recommendation though and its possible Downs could still spend the rest of his life in prison.

He will be sentenced on January 6, 2017.
