The man's campfire got out of control.  He calls the police to report it, and now he's getting slapped with a $325,000 bill.

Celedonio Perez-Sanchez made a few mistakes last summer.  When camping last June he started a campfire in a No Campfire zone.  He didn't have the fire in a proper ring.  It was also in a dry area.  The result was the Celebration Fire which scorched 7,000 acres to the ground and homes and lives were put at risk.

This week Sanchez received a bill for $324,777.73 from the Bureau of Land Management.  A complete shocker to him.  That money has to come from somewhere and right now, you and I are paying it.  That's right, the taxpayers take care of the bill.

Sanchez says he's been living off of Social Security since 2011 when his back surgery put him out of work.  He says there's no way he can afford hundreds of thousands of dollars.

The Bureau of Land Management says this bill is simply to start the negotiating process so they can settle on a sum that Sanchez can afford.  BLM says this process is not just about money.  It's meant to warn people about following fire rules and precautions.

My question is... will the next guy who accidentally starts a wildfire call it in?  Something to think about.
