Unfortunately, another national retailer is going out of business. It feels like these days this isn't very surprising anymore, as fewer and fewer people actually go shopping at brick-and-mortar stores and opt for online delivery services like Ebay and Amazon. This time, it's Payless ShoeSource who has fallen to the online retail giants.

According to the Idaho Statesman, Payless, with headquarters in Topeka, Kansas, announced their plans to file for bankruptcy protection earlier this week. Their plan is to close "about 2,500 stores in the U.S., Puerto Rico and Canada." They've actually already shut down their 'e-commerce' last Friday.

There are seven (two of those in Shopko stores) Treasure Valley locations that are among those being shut down, but before you head in to take advantage of the great liquidation deals, there are some things to keep in mind (via Idahostatesman.com):

  • No coupons will be honored
  • all sales are final
  • gift cards and store credit will be honored ONLY until Monday, March 11
  • returns and exchanges only until Friday, March 1, *only for goods bought before last Sunday, Feb. 17.

The liquidation sales will continue (in most stores) until the end of May. However, some locations will be closing early, at the end of March.

Here are all the Payless ShoeSource locations in the Treasure Valley.
