The incident happened just north of Twin Falls.

A three-year-old Wendell boy climbed onto a freezer chest and found a loaded handgun on top of the refrigerator. The boy then accidentally shot his 5-year-old sister while their mother was just feet away in the living room.

According to Gooding County Sheriff Shaun Gough, the bullet went through the girl's arm, but somehow avoided piercing any bones. The child was rushed to North Valley Medical Center, where she received treatment in the form of stitches and a bandage.

No charges have been filed against the mother as of yet, and Gough says at this time it's unclear if any charges will be filed regarding the incident.
