Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of a 24-year-old girl who tragically lost her life in a bad accident on Eagle Road in the very early hours Saturday morning.

Her name will no be released for another couple days so that family can be properly notified beforehand.

So what happened?  According to KTVB it was just past midnight on Saturday morning and the young woman was walking across the street very close or in the crosswalk on Eagle Road at Riverside Drive when a truck ran her over.

At this time we have absolutely no details of who was in the wrong or what happened.  We don't know if the light was green or red or if she had properly waited to cross at the appropriate time or anything else about why this tragic accident took place.  We do know that the young woman was wearing dark clothing and she did have a car parked nearby.

As soon as she was hit by the truck someone attempted first aid but it was too late.  Paramedics immediately took her to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The 42-year-old driver of the truck who hit the young woman has cooperated in every way and a full investigation has been launched by the Ada County Sheriff's Department.  The Ada County Coroner's Office is currently conducting an autopsy.  Eagle Road was shut down for several hours while investigators collected evidence.
