Two 16-year-olds are dead and three other teenagers are injured in a tragic car crash in Jerome County last night.

It was about 8 p.m. at the intersection of 200 North and 300 West.  16-year-old Baily Helsey from Nampa failed to stop at a stop sign and was sideswiped by a Hyundai Elantra.

Helsey and his passenger both had seatbelts on but were still ejected from the car.  Both died from their injuries at the scene.  The driver of the Hyundai Elantra and one of his passengers were injured and immediately taken by ambulance to St. Luke's Magic Valley Medical Center in Twin Falls.  The third passenger was airlifted to the same hospital.

The two passengers were not wearing seatbelts and their condition is unknown.  The intersection was blocked off for more than four hours while police investigated.  Alcohol is believed to have played a factor.
