10 Reasons You DO NOT Want to Move to Idaho

If you’re thinking about packing up the truck and heading this way…DON’T!  Here’s 10 reasons why you should never move to Idaho.

1.     RELAXING HOT SPRINGS

There’s more hot springs in Idaho than anywhere else in the country.  Yeah, we’re #1.  And hundreds are just minutes away from the heart of the state.  Yup… Boise, Idaho.

2.     KILLER RAPTOR’S FLYING THROUGH THE AIR

Ok, I’m lying about the killer part.  Birds Of Prey has the largest concentration of birds in the country.

3.     SKIING

Did you know the chairlift was invented here in Idaho?  Yeah, it started in Sun Valley which is a ways from Boise but we have Bogus Basin just 15 miles up the mountain that’s always sporting perfect conditions for skiing, snow boarding, or any other kind of mountain adventures.

4.     POTATOES

Uhhhh, do we need to even discuss this one?  We’re the world’s largest producer of potatoes here in Idaho but what most don’t know is that we’re also the world’s leader in producing trout, winter peas, lentils, and fresh hops.

5.     NETFLIX, HULU, AMAZON PRIME, & HBO

In a little place called Rigby, Idaho a young boy named Philo Farnsworth invented the television.  So all those cool things we use and watch now started right here in the Gem state.  You’re welcome!

6.     WOMEN RULE

Idaho is the only state to have a flag designed by a woman.  We became a state back in 1890 and the governor gave out a $100 reward to whoever could come up with the best logo for a state seal for the flag.  Emma Edwards of Boise, Idaho was the winner!

7.     THOUSANDS OF MILES OF RIVERS

That’s right.  All together we have 3,100 miles of rivers here in Idaho.  Some great for rafting, others for fishing, and some for relaxing.  Whatever your flavor… it’s like a piece of heaven around every corner here.

8.     DEEPEST RIVER GORGE IN AMERICA

Hells Canyon sounds scary but is gorgeous.  This huge canyon plunges down a good 8,000 feet which is deeper than the Grand Canyon.

9.     BLUE TURF

So why do we have blue grass on the field of the Boise State Bronco football team?  Why not?  It’s different, cool, seems to bug everyone else, and it’s ours.

10.     WE’RE NUCLEAR

The very first American city to run off nuclear power is Arco, Idaho.  That’s pretty much standard procedure for every city now but this little place paved the way for us all back in December of 1951.
